Welcome!

Welcome to the Edmond Memorial High School Educational Technology (EdTech) Professional Development Page!  If you have landed here, then get ready for some fun EdTech learning.  There will be new missions added all of the time (at least during the first part of the year), some of them will not be hard, some will be more difficult.  But with persistance comes knowledge and just maybe we can pour some of this cool stuff into our students.  Most lessons will have a short five minute video (some longer, some shorter depending on topic), followed by a task.  Total lesson time should be about 15 minutes, bonus points if you do them in your pajama's (just kidding, no one wants to see that...).  Once the task is complete simply fill out the form below the video, collect your points, and move up the charts!  When school gets rolling we will post a leaderboard right below for you to see who our current tech nerd leader is!

A personal note from me (Haselwood):

This will not be used as part of your evaluation here at school - this is strictly for your personal growth.  No one will be pestering you to complete any missions, or threaten to remove a limb if you are stuck on mission 203 until Christmas.  This is for your professional development only. If you look across our building, we are all in different levels of comfort with educational technology.  This site has been developed to give you choices as you go (after level one) and to allow you to learn at a pace that is comfortable for you.  This has been created for you guys as an offshoot of my desire to lower technology stress for us teachers.  You might just learn a cool thing or two along the way...

We will be going off of the honor system here...Some of us may have had some online classes, or been forced to sit through one of my video lectures (you must have been really bored).  Its amazing how much stuff we can do while listening to a lecture: arguing with our own kids, grading papers, watching the Bachelor, creating lesson plans, surfing Netflix and catching up with long lost relatives.  Do your best to pay attention most of the time. If you don't get everything out of the mission you should have, go through it again, it will always be there waiting for you to grab a refresher!

Lastly, if any of you have any suggestions for making this better or more engaging, please let me know. I borrowed a lot of things from another school techie in a different state and so maybe not every set up will work or apply to what we do in Memorial.  If things are terrible, awesome, need a tweek, need to be deleted, need more in depth, need....Please LET ME KNOW!!!  Who wants the title Tech God after their name?...I SURE DO! And I will be racing you to get it! Start your engines kids, and learn some cool stuff!

Have fun!!

Points Breakdown

Dog Points are awarded for successful completion of missions, but here are some rules.

    1) You need to earn the following number of Dog Points to reach a new level and therefore achieve greater missions.

    2) Missions award Dog Points based on level.  Level 1 missions offer 1 Dog Point for completion and level 4 missions give you 4 Dog Points upon completion.

    3) You can only complete missions that are at your level or below. (ie. if you are 3rd level, you can not complete 4th level missions, but can earn Dog Points doing missions in levels 1-3)  If you want those higher missions, put in the time, no cheating!
